STATUES AT SALINE DISTRICT LIBRARY

There are four bronze statues by Jane DeDecker, a Colorado sculptress, located in different locations on the library grounds.

The “Little Reader” and “Girl With Flowers” statues were dedicated to the memory of Joan Rodman Schrandt and Lorraine Esch, two long-time Friends of the Library. These pieces were donated by the Friends of the Library and the Carl F. Schrandt Endowment Fund on July 28, 1996.

“A World to Teach” was also donated by the Friends of the Library on July 20, 2008 and was dedicated to all Friends of the Library volunteers.

On August 4, 2013 the newest statue, “Heartland Story,” was added to the collection. It pays homage to Saline’s farming past. It was donated by the Fred Braun Family in memory of their mother, Gertrude Braun and dedicated to all farm families. Click here to watch the dedication ceremony.
